More Than a Cash Home Sale: How Neighborhood Homebuyers Gives Back to Massachusetts Communities
At Neighborhood Homebuyers, we’ve always believed that being a trusted cash home buyer in Massachusetts means more than just closing deals. It means showing up for the neighborhoods we serve, the same neighborhoods where we live, work, and raise our families. That’s why giving back isn’t an afterthought for us. It’s part of who we are.
One of the ways we live out that commitment is through our partnership with South Shore Habitat for Humanity, a local nonprofit doing extraordinary work to bring safe, affordable housing to families right here in southeastern Massachusetts.
Why We Partner With South Shore Habitat for Humanity
If you’ve never heard of South Shore Habitat for Humanity, here’s a quick introduction to the incredible work they do. Founded in 1986, the organization has spent decades bringing together local volunteers, donors, and family partners to construct dozens of affordable homes across more than 20 communities south and southwest of Boston. Today, their work reaches roughly 32 cities and towns in the region, focusing on low- to moderate-income seniors, veterans, and families who need a safe, stable place to live. A few years ago, they also launched a Critical Home Repair program, which helps qualifying senior and veteran homeowners make the repairs and safety modifications they need to keep living independently in the homes they already own.
What makes Habitat’s model so special is that it isn’t a handout, it’s a hand up. Future homeowners put in hundreds of hours of their own labor alongside community volunteers to help build their own house, and they also complete financial literacy and homeownership education along the way. Once a home is finished, the family purchases it through an affordable, long-term mortgage sized so that housing costs stay well within reach. As those mortgage payments come in, the money is reinvested to help fund the next family’s home, meaning every homeowner who moves in today is helping build tomorrow’s homes, too.
It’s a model built on dignity, community, and long-term stability, all of which are values that align closely with our own mission at Neighborhood Homebuyers and our commitment to our Housing Promise: we never close on a home until the seller has a confirmed place to go. Whether we’re helping a Massachusetts homeowner sell a house as-is, navigate an inherited or probate property, or move on from a distressed situation, we believe every transition deserves to be handled with care. Supporting an organization that helps families move into safe, stable homes felt like a natural extension of that promise.
How the Partnership Works: Referrals That Give Back
Here’s where you come in.
For every property that’s referred to Neighborhood Homebuyers and that we go on to purchase and close on, we donate $2,500 to South Shore Habitat for Humanity.
This applies no matter who sends the referral our way:
- Family members, friends, or neighbors — if you know someone thinking about selling their Massachusetts home as-is, sending them our way helps them and helps a local family find a home of their own.
- Realtors, attorneys, and other professionals — if you work with clients navigating inherited properties, probate sales, or distressed properties and think we might be a good fit, we’d love to connect. Your referral turns directly into a $2,500 contribution toward Habitat’s mission.
It’s a simple idea: every closed referral becomes a building block for someone else’s future home. When you refer a homeowner to us, you’re not just helping them get a fair, fast, as-is cash offer, you’re also helping fund the construction of affordable housing for a South Shore family, senior, or veteran.
The Give Moor Charity Golf Tournament
Referrals are only part of the story. Each year, we host the Give Moor Charity Golf Tournament, bringing together local business owners, real estate professionals, and community members for a day on the course, all in support of South Shore Habitat for Humanity. This year’s tournament took place on Monday, May 11th, at Blue Hill Country Club in Canton, MA and once again brought out a great turnout of golfers, sponsors, and community supporters.
Over the past three years, this tournament has raised approximately $108,347 for the cause, and we’re not slowing down. Every dollar raised helps fund the construction and repair of homes for the families, seniors, and veterans that South Shore Habitat serves throughout South Boston Massachusetts.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has golfed, sponsored, volunteered, or simply cheered us on. Watching that total grow year after year is one of the proudest parts of what we do.
Why This Matters to Us
At Neighborhood Homebuyers, we work with a lot of Massachusetts homeowners going through major life transitions whether that be downsizing, handling an inherited property, dealing with deferred maintenance, or simply needing to sell quickly and move on. We understand that selling a home is rarely just a transaction. It’s a life event.
That understanding is exactly why our partnership with South Shore Habitat for Humanity means so much to us. We see, firsthand, how much a safe and stable home can change a family’s future. Supporting an organization that builds exactly that, for seniors aging in place, for veterans, for families working hard toward homeownership, is one small way we can put our values into action.
